Netflix Price Cut
date: July 3rd, 2007

I know this is all just part of a price war between Netflix and Blockbuster, but I was happy to get the following e-mail:

Netflix e-mail

Personally, even if it was more expensive than Blockbuster, I’d never switch from Netflix. The main reason I joined was because I got tired of Blockbuster stores not having any of the movies I wanted in stock. This started happening after they got rid of late fees and it became nearly impossible to get any new releases. So Blockbuster’s main advantage — the ability to swap mailed movies in their stores — doesn’t appeal to me at all. They’re not going to have what I want anyway.

Netflix, on the other hand, has been really great (with a few exceptions). Recently, I discovered their streaming video service that lets you watch movies and shows right from your computer and that was just awesome. Now they cut my monthly price. Add to that my original love of Netflix and you have one very loyal customer.

Despite the price war, this cut in prices is contributing to the positive user experience of Netflix as a whole. The experience extends from their easy-to-use website, to their personalized customer service, to the “watch now” feature, and now to the pricing plan. It’s all spread out, but it’s all on target.
